We work hard to ensure that our herd is happy and healthy. We will always be open and honest regarding each goat offered. If there is ever any questions, please reach out. We are happy to help. We strive to only breed the best of the best!
Our whole family helps to care for our animals and we get to know each of them with all of their quirks. We are proud of our little herd. We grow attached to these goats and hope you love them too!
Sizes are listed based on expectations of how these goats will finish growing out. We do our very best to estimate based on parental lineage. We can not guarantee exact sizing of goats as they grow out as many factors come into play. We will try our best though! We will update individually as "certified mini" as they grow out and receive certification. Our farm tends toward smaller sizing for the herd as a whole. Any questions about sizing, please reach out or check the Myotonic Goat Registry website. There's some great information on there!
We do work to fulfill our waitlist/interest list looking for specific traits or particular pairings before offering as available. A deposit is required to hold until weaning. If we have a plan to meet to place a deposit in person, a “soft hold” will be in place. If buyer cancels, next in line will be contacted unless deposit is made. If you see something you’re interested in or a pairing you’re excited about, don’t be shy! Let us know and we will try our best to accommodate.
A $100 non refundable deposit will be due to reserve your goat and will be put towards your purchase price. Deposit is payable via cash, Venmo and PayPal. Goats will not be marked reserved until deposit is paid. Transportation/pick up dates will also be arranged at time of deposit. Balance of purchase is due before or at time of pick up. Goat will not leave farm until balance is paid in full.
Our preference is to have families pick up their new goat in person. It's always great to put names and faces together! If this is not possible, the transport of the goat is ultimately the responsibility of the buyer. All costs incurred regarding transport are also the responsibility of the buyer on top of purchase price. As stated above, timing of pick up should be loosely (week of) arranged at time of deposit. We require goats to be picked up with in two weeks of weaning. If more than two weeks have passed since arranged date, a boarding fee of $25 a week will be added to your balance. Special circumstances occasionally arise and if previously arranged, a $50 monthly fee can be applied.
If you miss your pick up date and no arrangements have been made, we will attempt to contact you with information provided. If we are unable to contact you, after additional two weeks, the goat will be offered to the next person on the waitlist and you will forfeit your deposit. We understand that sometimes things happen so please keep communication open. We want nothing more that to share the joy of goats with everyone!
Our herd is tested annually for CL, CAE and Johnes and have a clean bill of health. We work closely with our livestock vet to ensure everyone is healthy.
Our herd is vaccinated as a whole annually for CD&T and given BoSe. Kids receive Bose the day after kidding. Mammas are also dewormed right after kidding. Kids are given CD&T at 4 and 8 weeks of age.
Fecals are run as needed individually and as a whole, yearly. If needed, the herd is dewomed as instructed by licensed vet after appropriate testing and FAMACHA score.
Hooves are also trimmed quarterly for the whole herd and always freshly trimmed before leaving our farm.
We take herd health seriously and guarantee that when a goat leaves our care, they have been given a clean bill of health by a licensed medical professional. If a goat develops health issues, please notify us and have them seen by a licensed livestock vet. If it is deemed to be a genetic issue or contracted from our farm, we will require your vet to speak with ours so we can rectify the issue. Refunds will not be given for any other reason. Please note that you are responsible for any vet bills incurred once animal has left our farm. Goats are not a returnable item as we take bio security very seriously. Deposits are non refundable unless reason is same as above.
We are proud members of the Myotonic Goat Registry, the American Boer Goat Association, and the American Dairy Goat Association. Our goats will leave with the appropriate paper work to register or transfer registration to your name.
Myotonic goats come in a variety of sizes. They are a slow to moderate growing breed. Myos are typically built stocky with heavy muscling. Muscling develops with age and growth. Their weight can range anywhere from 60 to 200 pounds. They can range in height anywhere 17 inches to 25 inches when measured at the withers. In order to be considered a true "mini" they must measure below 21" at the age of three years old. Only at that time, they may be "certified mini" through MGR.
